The mission of the AbilityOne Program is to provide employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities in the manufacture and delivery of products and services to the federal government. AbilityOne has developed a strategic partnership with FedBid to assist in meeting agency AbilityOne compliance goals through the FedBid Online Marketplace.

As an AbilityOne partner, FedBid is helping to streamline and simplify the buying process for a broad range of SKILCRAFT® and other AbilityOne products and services, which are manufactured by Americans who are blind or have other severe disabilities. In a July 8, 2009 press release, Tina Ballard, Executive Director and CEO of the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled, described the FedBid AbilityOne partnership as a way to ensure that “Federal customers are provided more information about the AbilityOne Program and greater opportunities to buy AbilityOne products and services.”

To help meet this goal, FedBid has developed an AbilityOne seller group consisting of more than 400 authorized AbilityOne distributors that have been registered and trained on FedBid. For Buyers, accessing the AbilityOne Seller community through FedBid is as simple as clicking a button when you post a Buy.
