Human Resources Assistant
Provides administrative support to the VP of HR on all matters related to the day-to-day operations of the HR department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs customer service functions by responding to employee requests and questions.
- Handles all paperwork and correspondence associated with Day 1 sign-on for new hires.
- Verifies I-9 documentation, maintains books and enters data into E-Verify.
- Submits the online background investigation requests and assists with new employee background checks.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Assists with the preparation of the performance appraisal process.
- Assists with recruitment scheduling and interview process.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by Recruiting Manager.
- Schedules conferences by reserving facilities at local hotels and/or restaurants.
- Makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions.
- Prepares new employee files.
- Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence.
- Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
- Assists VP of HR with various research projects and/or special projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have obtained High School Diploma; some college coursework preferred
- Working knowledge of HR policies, regulations and legislation
- At least 2 years of practical, hands-on HR experience
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient operation of photocopier, fax machine, scanner and binding equipment
- Proficient use of English language, both written and spoken
- Ability to learn use of web-based content management system(s)
- Ability to type at least 40 wpm
- Excellent work ethic
- Highest ethical standards
