Human Resources Assistant

Provides administrative support to the VP of HR on all matters related to the day-to-day operations of the HR department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Performs customer service functions by responding to employee requests and questions.
  • Handles all paperwork and correspondence associated with Day 1 sign-on for new hires.
  • Verifies I-9 documentation, maintains books and enters data into E-Verify.
  • Submits the online background investigation requests and assists with new employee background checks.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance appraisal process.
  • Assists with recruitment scheduling and interview process.
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by Recruiting Manager.
  • Schedules conferences by reserving facilities at local hotels and/or restaurants.
  • Makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions.
  • Prepares new employee files.
  • Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence.
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
  • Assists VP of HR with various research projects and/or special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have obtained High School Diploma; some college coursework preferred
  • Working knowledge of HR policies, regulations and legislation
  • At least 2 years of practical, hands-on HR experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient operation of photocopier, fax machine, scanner and binding equipment
  • Proficient use of English language, both written and spoken
  • Ability to learn use of web-based content management system(s)
  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Highest ethical standards
