September 22, 2009
VIENNA, VIRGINIA, September 22, 2009 - FedBid, Inc., The Buyer-Driven Online Marketplace® for commodity buys, today announced the addition of VADM Justin Daniel (“Dan”) McCarthy, United States Navy, Retired, to FedBid’s Board of Advisors.
In 2007, Dan completed a highly decorated 38-year military career, culminating in the groundbreaking position of the first staff officer assigned to a Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (DCNO) position, overseeing Fleet Readiness and Logistics support. Previously, he headed the organization responsible for supply chain management in support of the U.S. Navy’s operating forces (Naval Supply Systems Command) and served as Chief Financial Officer and later Chief Operating Officer of the Defense Logistics Agency, responsible for the inventory management, warehousing, and disposal of a wide array of Defense Department supplies supporting all military Services.
“Dan has been an extremely valuable resource to every organization in which he has served, whether for 38 years in the military or more than 50 years in the Boy Scouts of America. He’s an innovator, a champion of effective change, and a leader that values integrity and excellence,” said John Lee, FedBid’s Senior Vice President. “He brings a vast amount of acquisition, logistics and operations transformation expertise and will be a tremendous addition to our Board of Advisors.”
According to Dan, his decision to join FedBid’s Advisory Board was not a difficult one. “FedBid is doing some incredibly valuable work within the Federal procurement arena. They provide both the tools and services that enable more timely and cost effective acquisitions. With the critical need for timely support of our warfighters in the Middle East, the Congress’ focus on acquisition reform, and the continuing imperative to optimize the use of every taxpayer dollar, FedBid’s online marketplace is a perfect fit in all three areas. This is the kind of procurement innovation that has broad application, not just for the Defense Department but for the entire Federal Government.”
Dan is currently President of Silver Eagle Consulting, Inc. and serves as Adjunct Faculty and Corporate Advisory Board member at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. He has been three times recognized with the highest peacetime awards by the Departments of Defense and Navy. He has also been awarded the Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Gold Medallion, an honor he shares with several U.S. Presidents; the Boy Scouts of America Silver Antelope Award; the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Award; and the City of Honolulu Mahalo Award.
