Defense Standardization Program Industry Day

You are cordially invited to attend the Defense Standardization Program (DSP) Industry Day hosted by the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO) that will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at LMI in Tysons, VA, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.  The objective of this event is to bring together government, industry and standards developing organizations to show case current features, modules and functions available in ASSIST, and to discuss an upcoming initiative to evaluate, assess and enhance ASSIST.  

ASSIST is a comprehensive system used by the Department of Defense (DoD) to develop, coordinate, distribute, and manage defense and federal specifications and standards, international standardization agreements, military handbooks, commercial item descriptions, data item descriptions, and related technical documents prepared in accordance with the policies and procedures of the DSP.

I expect the DSP Industry Day topics will provide a platform for open discussion and dialogue between government and subject matter experts from industry and standards developing organizations interested in understanding current defense standardization management processes, and how ASSIST supports them, and in potential opportunities for doing business with the government.

Innovation for Tomorrow’s Procurement World

The government marketplace is constantly shifting. Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion on how small, innovative firms, can successfully introduce their innovations into the marketplace. Sometimes this occurs through a partnership with a National Lab or programs like the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or through unconventional contracting efforts like DoD’s “Hack the Pentagon Pilot Program.” This educational conference will address how businesses can find a door into the government, what creative procurement approaches work in the government marketplace, and how Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) can support the shift in focus to innovation.
